The Institute for Management StudiesThe State of Missouri, as part of its on-going program of management development sponsors membership to the Institute for Management Studies (IMS), an international not-for-profit educational and professional development organization, which offers training programs conducted by leading practitioners, authors and authorities in the area of management. The institute, composed of nearly 400 large corporations and governmental organizations, presents seminars in cities around the world for the managers and executives of its members. St. Louis and Kansas City are among those cities. Every month, state leaders have the opportunity to sharpen their skills and learn new management techniques from the best teachers and consulting firms in the world. They learn together with managers from other member organizations such as Hallmark Cards, Sprint, Edward Jones, Anheuser-Busch, Federal Reserve Bank and the FBI. While most sessions are designed for mid-level managers, some are targeted for department directors. Some sessions are taught at an advanced level; others are specifically meant to be introductory courses. Registration:Registration for IMS sessions is done through the Division of Personnel. The registration process can be completed using the on-line registration form which can also be accessed through the St. Louis and Kansas City session links. IMS limits the size of the audience at its seminars to insure a business school quality, so early registration is always advised. The cost of each IMS sessions is $325.00 per person. The cost includes the training session, a continental breakfast and lunch. Participants assume responsibility for making their own hotel reservations when needed.
